My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Nia Vardalos as Toula loves her big Greek family, but they exasperate her too. Her mother (warmly played by Lainie Kazan) explains, "When I was your age, we didn't even have food" and her father (played by Michael Constantine) who walks around with a spray jar of Windex because he is convinced it will cure anything. Like her mother and all Greek women, Toula (who narrates the film) lets us know that she was put on this earth for only three purposes: to marry a Greek man, to have Greek children, and to feed everyone until the day she dies. And then one day a guy with the spectacularly non-Greek name of Ian Miller (John Corbett) walks in, and she knows immediately that she's in love, but of course it's an impossible siutation. You'll enjoy meeting the extended Greek family, learning their quirks and watching them in their wild preparations for the big fat Greek wedding. The film has been neatly directed by Joel Zwick
