Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
When the harshest criticism about the film is that it's too close to the book, you know that's not all bad. In fact not bad at all. Chris Columbus has directed this sure-to-be classic exactly as J.K. Rowling wrote it. A few scenes have been eliminated for time, but basically it's all there. Daniel Radcliffe is perfect as Harry and some of the other colorful characters he meets along the way are Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid, John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick, Richard Harris as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Alan Rickman as Professor Severus Snape, and Maggie Smith as Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall. It's all great fun, magically exciting and sure to make the whole gang want to see it all over again.
