storm clouds brewing over Earth, Percy's accused of stealing the
lightning bolt with which Zeus (Sean Bean "National Treasure") rules the world. Percy (short for
the Greek, Perseus), gets a jolt. And more jolts are coming as he discovers that his own life is in danger. Percy is sent to a special enclave called Camp Half Blood, run by the centaur, Chiron (Pierce Brosnan "GoldenEye"), who in his human

Together, they set off on an incredible
transcontinental odyssey that takes them six hundred stories above New
York City (the portal to Mount Olympus) and to the iconic Hollywood
sign, under which burn the fires of the Underworld. At journey's end
rests the fate of the world - and the life of Percy's mother,
whom Percy must rescue from the depths of Hell itself, where she's been taken by Hades (Steve Coogan "Night at the Museum").
Down below they run into Medusa (Uma Thurman "Kill Bill") who reveals her snake-filled head, in one of
the film's most spectacular displays of visual effects, and where they find the beasts of the gods,
some breathing fire, others bearing many deadly heads.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief , directed by Chris Columbus ("Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone") is an exciting fantasy, loaded with details, and contains myriad reference to Greek mythology. It probably won't be long for the next Percy Jackson adventure to hit your screens and just like Harry Potter, they'll probably keep on coming each year or two. And be sure to remain watching for an extra treat during the closing credits.
