Atlantis: The Lost Empire
This animated feature set in 1914 is based on the myth of the lost city beneath the sea. With ideas that have been borrowed from such classics as Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and Steven Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and employing the finest in conventional animated techniques, this latest Disney effort has plenty of exciting sequences including an underwater monster, a princess in danger, some wild looking underwater craft, and a boatload of multi-ethnic characters. With no songs to detract from the action, and some familiar voices such as Michael J. Fox, James Garner and John Mahoney; this boys' comic-book adventure set in l914 should manage to delight the kids and be inventive enough to amuse many of their older companions.
