This is a re-telling of this classic Red Riding Hood story. The 3-D-animated film begins at the end with Chief Grizzly (Xzibit) and Detective Bill Stork (Anthony Anderson) investigating a domestic disturbance at Granny's (Glenn Close) cottage. It involves a karate-kicking Red Riding Hood (Anne Hathaway), a sarcastic wolf (Patrick Warburton) and an oafish Woodsman (Jim Belushi). There are many charges: breaking and entering, intent to eat, wielding an axe without a license, but these unusual suspects have their story to tell first. It's all quite clever and funny, though it's overly corny in spots. This high-energy, imaginative entertainment has been carefully aimed at younger audiences, and they will enjoy it.
