Jimmy's Buzz Guide Review: Cosbys's good-natured live action revamp of the old Saturday morning cartoon series is bland, moralizing and completely unexceptional, but harmless.
DVD Features: Full-length audio commentary by director Joel Zwick and producer John Davis; Extended scenes; "Fat Albert" behind the band" featurette; Theatrical trailer & more.
The characters come out of the TV and go into the real world. Led by Fat Albert (Kenan Thompson), they are on a mission to help Doris (Kyla Pratt), one of their viewers. T e film's main message is the importance of believing in yourself. Doris and her sister Lauri (Dania Ramirez) run relay on their high school's track team. As time runs out, color begins to run out on the once cartoon characters. No one feels worse thabout this than Fat Albert, who has developed a major crush on Lauri, and she has fallen for him too. The film directed by Joel Zwick (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) is a kind of sweet, but underwritten. It's a harmless, trivial little picture that is best saved for watching at home on video or DVD when the price of admission is more in line with its worth.
